There are two main organizations for Shetland Sheep breeders.
NASSA or the North American Shetland Sheep Association is located in The United States. NASSA represents breeders for registering Shetlands in the United States and Canada. The site promotes the breed in North America and has several lovely pictures of Shetland sheep.
The British counterpart to the North American association is The Shetland Sheep Breeder's Group. This is an excellent site to view the colors and marking of the Shetland Sheep
Shetland sheep were at on time an endangered breed. Many livestock breeds are in this situation today. The ALBC ( American Livestock Breeds Conservancy) does important work in advocacy and promotion of these rare animals.
The following sites are dedicated to animal knowledge and animal health. However, no book or Internet site is a good subsitute for your veterinarian. I cannot stress enough the importance of finding a veterinarian and developing a good rapport with him or her about your animals. Yes, Shetlands do occasionally have problems and need to see the Doctor.
Oklahoma State's compendium on domestic animal breeds is very in inconclusive. This is a good site for initial information about a specific breed.
Merck's Veterinary Manual presents topics of interest for self education of sheep health.

Maryland's Small Rudiment page has different listings of publications and information about sheep and goats.
Take a course about sheep! This is a home study course directed by Penn State.
Fiber and Wool Groups of Interest
Angora Rabbits are another weakness of mine. This is the site of Margeret Bartold-our rabbit guru of the Mid-America Angora Club.
Missouri Natural Colored Wool Growers sponsors the Heart of America Sheep Show, a fiber festival every June. It is a hugh three day event with classes, sheep competitions, and vendors. It is the perfect place to learn and meet like-minded fiber enthusiasts.
MOFA (Missouri Fiber Artists) welcomes fiber artists from all disciplines. There is a biannual conference and also a retreat. This group has a good time when they get together. There is a wonderful member show at the conference.
